Good Morning
Happy Friday everyone! I have been asked what I do when I get to a breaking point being a mom of a child with Autism. Sometimes I need peace and quiet. Sometimes I need to get out for a bit alone. The biggest thing that helps me is listening to music. Music can get you through a lot. I love upbeat music, especially from the 80’s and 90’s. I love working out to music to relieve stress too.
If I am in the car alone I turn it up and sing until I can’t anymore. There are days at home that I play calming music or music with nature sounds to try and calm Chloe down and help both of us relax. When Chloe and I travel home we listen to our favorite songs. She loves ABBA, so we listen to a few of their songs. Chloe has always loved music since she was born. However listening to music for to long overstimulates her and she will ask me to turn it off. Her Dad is a huge Journey fan and tries to get her hooked on them. She does seem to love some of their music.
So that is what I usually do to relieve stress. You have to find something that works for you. We have to take care of our minds as well as our bodies.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great Friday!
There definitely is something about music that is therapeutic. 🎶
