Changing Things Up

Good morning and Happy Halloween to those that are having a party or trick or treating tonight. What are we doing? Nothing this year.

Our community had trick or treating last night, because today we are expecting A LOT of rain. I had decided a week ago to forgo the Halloween traditions this year. I have mentioned Chloe’s obsession with candy. I am trying to keep that under control. We did find sugar free lollipops online and ordered them. Those are her favorite. I did go out today and get her a small bucket and filled it with Goldfish, Welch’s Fruit Snacks and  a few small chocolate treats. She was so excited and didn’t seem to care she wasn’t going out. I have always believed she had a bit of anxiety going door to door and being made to say “Trick or Treat”. Costumes were always tough too. She, being younger in mind than in body, wants costumes that are only made for younger children. It has been a struggle. She is happy and that’s what matters.

I have never been a fan of Halloween. I remember as a kid being so anxious going to a persons door and knocking. I was miserable and the costumes in the 70’s and 80’s UGH!!! My 2 older children loved Halloween, so I went along and acted like I did too. I’m sure they felt my stress. I don’t know why I feel the way I do. I have been asked if its because I’m a Christian. Nope . I just don’t enjoy it. I do love seeing others enjoy it though. I am hoping to start some new October traditions from now on and I’m sure Chloe and my hubby will enjoy them.

Anyway I hope all of you have a fun and safe night.
